PETRO Industrial was approached by an aviation facility in Northern Australia that required a reliable, efficient, and compliant solution for refuelling aircraft and other aviation vehicles. The solution needed to adhere to strict safety regulations while accommodating the facility's high-traffic operations.

The Challenge

Operating at a busy airfield presents unique challenges. With planes taking off and landing, baggage carts in motion, and various ground support vehicles operating, the facility needed a streamlined system for quick and efficient refuelling.

The key requirements included:

  • A hose reel capable of extending up to 45 metres for flexible refuelling locations.
  • A dedicated tanker offloading area to allow quick and safe fuel deliveries without disrupting airfield operations.
  • Compliance with hazardous zoning standards and safety regulations.

The Solution

PETRO Industrial provided a turnkey solution that addressed the facility's needs while ensuring safety, efficiency, and scalability:

1.     Bulk Fuel Tank & Pumpbay Integration: The solution featured a 68,000L PETRO Bulk Fuel Tank fitted with an extended pumpbay to house all essential equipment, including:

Dual-sided pumpbay doors allowed the 45m hose reel to be deployed efficiently to any location within the radius, ensuring seamless refuelling operations.

2.     Dedicated Tanker Offloading Zone: PETRO designed and installed a purpose-built offloading area with spill containment capable of holding up to 10,000L of spilled fuel. This ensures the highest safety standards during tanker refuelling while minimising operational downtime.

3.     Compliance & Safety: PETRO delivered a comprehensive hazardous zone map and ensured all work adhered to strict hazardous zoning requirements. This commitment to safety provided peace of mind for both the client and their operational staff.
